Technical data sheet

Made for indoor functional printing.

WJ PLA+ is a toughened polylactic acid filament that keeps PLA's famously easy printing – low warping, no enclosure, no heated chamber – while adding meaningfully higher tensile and flexural strength than standard PLA. It suits users who want PLA's convenience with more durability for parts that see light mechanical use. With a melting point of approximately 220 °C and a glass transition of approximately 65 °C, it remains best suited to indoor, room-temperature applications rather than sustained heat exposure.

Typical applications

display models and prototypes, low-stress functional parts, enclosures and brackets for indoor use, and general-purpose printing where ease of use and surface finish matter more than heat resistance.

Choose with the application in mind. PLA grades are intended for applications where ease of printing matters more than heat resistance. Prolonged outdoor exposure and sustained heat require application-specific validation.

How to read the data.

Typical, not minimumThe property tables describe specimens printed exactly as stated in Section 5. They describe the material, not a machined or moulded part.
Orientation mattersValues marked X·Y apply to specimens printed flat on the build plate. Z values are measured on parts printed standing up and are typically lower than X·Y. Design for the direction that carries the load.
Batch variationValues carry a ± range where extrusion, pigment and ambient humidity vary between batches; colour masterbatch can shift impact strength noticeably. Where no deviation is given, the value is a single representative test.
Not a certificateThis sheet is not an inspection certificate, a Declaration of Conformity, or a certificate of analysis. Batch-specific CoA, RoHS / REACH declarations and safety data sheets are issued separately on request.

Technical data sheet

Storage, handling & safety.

Keep filament dry and follow the grade-specific storage and handling guidance.

TopicGuidance
Storage before useSealed bag, 15 – 25 °C, below 50 % RH, away from direct sunlight and UV, away from ignition sources. Shelf life 24 months.
Storage after openingReseal with the supplied desiccant. In humid climates print within 4 weeks of opening; the spool can be re-dried at 45 – 55 °C for 4 – 6 h.
Symptoms of moistureBubbling or popping sounds at the nozzle, rough surface, stringing, weak layer bonding, inconsistent extrusion. Dry the spool before changing settings.
HandlingPLA filament is brittle when overloaded. Keep the spool on its holder and avoid sharp bends at the extruder inlet, especially on direct-drive toolheads.
VentilationPrinting releases trace lactide vapour with a faintly sweet odour. Print in a ventilated area and avoid breathing the fumes directly. Not for use in enclosed occupied spaces without extraction.
Fire and disposalPLA is a combustible solid. Keep away from open flame and hot surfaces above 250 °C. Spool, bag and carton are recyclable; offcuts can go to industrial composting per EN 13432.
Personal protectionNo special protection required for normal use. Wear gloves when handling hot parts and safety glasses when cutting filament.

Questions before you print.

Does PLA+ need an enclosure?

An enclosure is not required according to this grade’s TDS. Use the recommended nozzle, bed and cooling settings as your starting point.

What drying settings should I use?

45 – 55 °C for 4 – 6 h. Store the filament sealed with desiccant and re-dry if you notice popping, stringing or a rough surface.

Are these guaranteed properties for my printed part?

No. These are typical TDS values for specimens made under the stated test conditions. Printer settings, build orientation, colour and part geometry affect performance.

Can I order this material under my own brand?

WJ supports custom labels, spool options, packaging artwork and colour matching. Contact the team to confirm samples, batch quantity and lead time.
