PETG Basic
Filament guide.

WJ PETG combines the toughness and chemical resistance of PET with the easy printability of a low-warp amorphous polymer. It bridges the gap between PLA and ABS: tougher and more temperature-resistant than PLA, without the warping and fumes of ABS. With a heat deflection temperature of approximately 75 °C at 0.45 MPa and a glass transition of approximately 80 °C, it is a dependable choice for functional parts that see everyday handling and moderate heat.

Overview & applications.

WJ PETG combines the toughness and chemical resistance of PET with the easy printability of a low-warp amorphous polymer. It bridges the gap between PLA and ABS: tougher and more temperature-resistant than PLA, without the warping and fumes of ABS. Typical applications

mechanical parts and enclosures, protective covers, outdoor fittings, food-contact-adjacent housings, and general-purpose prototypes where impact resistance and durability matter more than fine surface detail.

TopicGuidance
Typical, not minimumThe property tables describe specimens printed exactly as stated in Section 5. They describe the material, not a machined or moulded part.
Orientation mattersValues marked X·Y apply to specimens printed flat on the build plate. Z values are measured on parts printed standing up and are typically lower than X·Y. Design for the direction that carries the load.
Batch variationValues carry a ± range where extrusion, pigment and ambient humidity vary between batches; colour masterbatch can shift impact strength noticeably. Where no deviation is given, the value is a single representative test.
Not a certificateThis sheet is not an inspection certificate, a Declaration of Conformity, or a certificate of analysis. Batch-specific CoA, RoHS / REACH declarations and safety data sheets are issued separately on request.

Technical data sheet

Storage, handling & safety.

TopicGuidance
Storage before useSealed bag, 15 – 25 °C, below 50 % RH, away from direct sunlight and UV, away from ignition sources. Shelf life 24 months.
Storage after openingReseal with the supplied desiccant. PETG picks up moisture slowly but should still be re-dried after several months of open storage: 60 – 65 °C for 6 – 8 h.
Symptoms of moistureBubbling or popping at the nozzle, cloudy or foamy extrusion, rough surface, weak layer bonding. Dry the spool before changing print settings.
HandlingPETG is tougher and less brittle than PLA, but it bonds aggressively to smooth PEI and glass. Use a release agent on smooth sheets and let the plate cool before removing the part.
VentilationPrinting gives off a mild, slightly sweet odour and low levels of volatile organic compounds. Print in a ventilated area, particularly for long or high-temperature jobs. Not for use in enclosed occupied spaces without extraction.
Fire and disposalPETG is a combustible solid. Keep away from open flame and hot surfaces above 280 °C. Spool, bag and carton are recyclable; offcuts are not biodegradable and should go to plastics recycling.
Personal protectionNo special protection required for normal use. Wear gloves when handling hot parts and safety glasses when cutting filament.
